Grants & finance, made simple
Between the SEAI grant, 0% VAT and income from the power you export, solar has never been more affordable in Ireland — and we handle the paperwork from start to finish.
The 2026 SEAI grant
What you can claim
SEAI grants are paid directly to you once your install is complete. We handle the application and paperwork from start to finish.

Up to €325,200
The Non-Domestic Microgen Grant now covers an effective 45% for new applications made from 7 October 2026 to 6 July 2027.
Pre-2025 homes

Paying for the rest
Solar finance
from your local credit union
The SEAI grant covers up to €1,800 of a home solar install, plus €600 if you add a battery. For the rest, West-Midlands Credit Union offers the Greenify Home Improvement Loan to its members for energy upgrades. Full details, rates and terms are on the WMCU website. Here’s what it involves.
The product
The Greenify Home Improvement Loan
Part of West-Midlands Credit Union’s Greenify range, built for energy upgrades: solar PV, insulation, heat pumps and similar work.

Covers more than solar
Greenify also applies to insulation, heat pumps and other energy upgrades
How it works
Two separate conversations
We quote for the solar. West-Midlands Credit Union handles the lending. The two don’t overlap, and no money passes between us.

Book a free survey and we’ll give you a fixed written quote, with your SEAI solar and battery grants already deducted. That figure is what you’d be looking to fund.
Apply to WMCU
Take your quote to West-Midlands Credit Union and apply for the Greenify loan directly. Rates, terms and approval are between you and WMCU.
We install
Once you’re sorted, we schedule the install, complete the SEAI paperwork and hand over a working system.
The grant process
Four steps, and we do most of them
We submit your SEAI application; approval usually arrives within weeks. Work can’t start until it’s in place. You then have 8 months to complete the works.
Our certified team fits your system to SEAI Code of Practice standards.
A post-works BER is completed and your documentation is submitted to SEAI.
SEAI pays your grant directly, usually within 4 to 6 weeks of a complete submission.

What if my local credit union isn't West-Midlands?
We install across Mayo, Galway, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim and the wider West, which is a bigger footprint than any single credit union covers. If you’re outside West-Midlands’ area, your own local credit union will very likely have an equivalent green loan worth asking them.
Does the loan cover the full install?
That’s between you and the credit union. What we can tell you is the exact cost of your system after the SEAI grant, so you know the figure you’re working with before you apply.
Does using finance affect my SEAI grant?
No. The SEAI grant is paid on the completed install regardless of how you fund the balance. We handle that application either way.
Do you get paid for referrals?
No. KM Solar receives nothing from West-Midlands Credit Union and takes no part in the loan application, approval or repayment. We’re passing on information about a product our customers have asked about.
Is there a grant for home batteries?
Yes. SEAI now offers a €600 grant for a home battery (5kWh), on top of the solar PV grant of up to €1,800. We include both in your quote.
Is my home eligible for the SEAI grant?
Your house must have been built and occupied before 2025, and must not have had SEAI solar PV funding before at the same meter (MPRN). We’ll confirm this at your free survey.
WARNING: If you do not meet the repayments on your loan, your account will go into arrears. This affects your credit rating, which may limit your ability to access credit, a hire-purchase agreement, a consumer-hire agreement or a BNPL agreement in the future.
KM Solar provides information about the Greenify loan only. We are not a lender, not a credit intermediary, and take no part in any credit agreement. Any loan is a matter between you and West-Midlands Credit Union. For current rates, terms and eligibility, see wmcu.ie.
